Activate Inclusion is founded on an abiding commitment to social justice.

Thus, during this formative time of the business, we have been crafting our collective approach to...well, just about everything!

We all had experiences working in classic hierarchical organizations - where power is top-heavy; pay practices are opaque and filled with inequities; there’s an inordinate number of confidential files; and owner profits are lopsided. In considering our founding principles and purpose, our core group decided to “BE the change” in our business practices and infrastructure.

As a result, we have implemented some new-to-us approaches and are excited to share them with you here.

• Organizational roles based on capabilities and the desire to learn/lead, not title or position

• Finances (reframed as “value”) being 100% transparent

• Ever-expanding view of what creates & adds value to the organization

• Sharing value with our extended team of contractors

• Continuously learning, accepting mistakes and being humble

• A newly formed working group to explore privilege and dismantle internalized aspects of capitalism & white supremacy

• Utilizing vendors and services that are like-minded in policies and actions

The unexpected results of being knee-deep in this new approach to our business have been a profound level of trust among members; a sense of shared ownership & responsibility for the organization; and a joyful spirit of innovation...with ideas coming from, not just domain experts, but anywhere and everywhere.
